Sending Parcels from Mumbai, Within India or Overseas

Shiv Guru Cargo is a Mumbai-based cargo and logistics company. Alongside our cargo and logistics services, we arrange parcel courier for eligible personal and business shipments going to destinations within India and to international destinations.

Most parcel enquiries we receive are ordinary, everyday shipments:

  • A family sending clothes, books and a few personal belongings to a son or daughter studying in another city.
  • A small business sending a replacement item to a customer whose first order arrived faulty.
  • A trader sending product samples to a prospective buyer, in India or abroad.

The right service comes down to a handful of details: what is in the parcel, where it is going, how much it weighs, how big the box is and how soon it needs to arrive. Share those at the outset and we can tell you what is possible before anything is booked.

What Can You Send by Parcel Courier?

Clothing & Personal Items

Garments, footwear and everyday belongings for a family member, a student or yourself at a new address.

Eligible Gifts

Presents for birthdays, weddings and festivals, provided the items inside can travel by courier.

Books & Printed Material

Books, notebooks, brochures and other printed items that go beyond plain paperwork.

Accessories

Bags, wallets, belts and similar accessories for customers, friends or family.

Business Samples

Product samples, swatches and trial pieces for buyers, clients or suppliers.

Small Commercial Goods

Small quantities of stock, parts or finished products going from a business to its customers.

E-Commerce Orders

Orders from online sellers going out to their buyers, on routes where the service supports it.

Replacement Items

Exchanged or replacement products sent to a customer after a return or a fault.

Household / Personal Parcels

Kitchenware, linen, small household items and other belongings that are not restricted for courier.

Final acceptance depends on the actual contents, the destination, the provider's rules and applicable regulations. Some everyday items, such as food, medicines, liquids, cosmetics or anything with a battery, may carry restrictions or need checking first. Please tell us exactly what is inside when you enquire.

Parcel or Document? Knowing the Difference

The difference matters because it decides how a shipment is booked, and sometimes which services can carry it.

A document shipment contains paperwork only. Examples include:

  • certificates
  • contracts
  • applications
  • transcripts
  • letters

A parcel contains physical items. Examples include:

  • clothing and personal belongings
  • small products and merchandise
  • gifts and accessories
  • samples
  • spare items and other permitted goods

The contents decide it, not the packaging. A slim envelope carrying a pen drive, a product sample or a small gift along with some papers is usually treated as a parcel.

If you are sending paperwork only, our Document Courier page explains how that works.

Parcel Courier Options

Standard Parcel Courier

For everyday parcels that are not time-critical, on routes where standard service is offered.

Priority / Express Parcel (where available)

A faster service option for time-sensitive parcels, offered on some routes but not all.

Domestic Parcel Courier

For parcels going from Mumbai to serviceable cities and towns across India.

International Parcel Courier

For parcels going from Mumbai to overseas addresses, subject to customs and destination requirements.

Personal Parcel Courier

For individuals and families sending belongings, gifts and other personal items.

Business Parcel Courier

For businesses sending goods, parts or stock to customers, branches or suppliers, occasionally or on a regular basis.

Door-to-Door Parcel Courier

Collection from your home or office and delivery to the receiver's address, where both ends are covered.

Multi-Piece Parcel Dispatch

For shipments of several boxes, or several parcels going out together to one or more addresses.

Sample & Commercial Parcel Courier

For product samples and small commercial consignments sent to buyers, agents or trade contacts.

These describe types of service, not guaranteed fixed products. Availability varies by destination, parcel details and the provider or service used.

Packing Your Parcel Properly

Good packing does more than keep the contents tidy. It helps protect them through handling, sorting and transit, and can reduce avoidable damage or handling problems during the journey.

A few basics make a real difference:

  • Use a sturdy outer box or mailer that suits the size and weight of the contents.
  • Wrap or cushion anything fragile, and keep heavier items at the bottom.
  • Fill empty space so nothing shifts about inside.
  • Seal every seam and flap securely with good-quality tape.
  • Avoid reusing boxes that are torn, soft or already damaged.
  • Check that the receiver's name, address, PIN or postal code and phone number are correct and clearly written.

Weak or loose packing increases the risk of damage and can also lead to service issues along the way. If you are not sure how to pack something, ask us before pickup. We will tell you what basic packing information we need to check the service.

Weight, Size and Your Quote

Weight is only part of the picture. The services available, and the charge, usually come down to:

  • the actual weight
  • the dimensions of the box
  • the number of pieces
  • the destination
  • the type of service

Courier services often consider how much space a parcel takes up, not just how heavy it is. So a large but light box can sometimes be charged differently from a small box of the same actual weight. This is usually called volumetric or dimensional weight.

Measuring the length, width and height of the parcel before you contact us helps us give you a more accurate quote.

If the shipment turns out to be too large or heavy for normal parcel courier, one of our cargo and logistics services may suit it better. We will tell you if that is the case.

Sending Parcels Across India

For parcels going within India, we can arrange pickup from your home, office or business in Mumbai, where the location is covered. The parcel then travels to serviceable destinations across the country. It might be a personal package for a relative or a business dispatch for a customer.

The destination PIN code is the first thing we check, as coverage can differ between cities, towns and remote areas. We also need:

  • the parcel's weight, dimensions and contents
  • a reachable phone number for the receiver, which helps particularly with offices and housing societies that have gate or reception checks

An estimated transit time can be checked once the destination, parcel details and available service are known.

For documents and other shipments within India, see our Domestic Courier service.

Sending Parcels Overseas from Mumbai

International parcels need more information than domestic ones, so it helps to have these details ready before you enquire:

  • the destination country and city
  • the full receiver address and postal code
  • the receiver's phone number
  • a clear description of the contents
  • quantity
  • weight and dimensions
  • declared value, where required

Customs and documentation requirements vary from country to country and with what is being sent. Some parcels need an invoice or value details, and certain contents may need additional paperwork. Duties or taxes may also be charged at the destination, according to the country and the shipment.

Acceptance depends on the actual contents and on the rules of the provider and the destination country. We check these points before booking, so there are fewer surprises once the parcel is on its way.

For more on sending shipments abroad, see our International Courier page.

Items That Need Checking Before Booking

Some items cannot travel by normal parcel courier, and others can only go under certain conditions. The rules are not the same everywhere. They vary with the provider, the destination, the mode of transport and the regulations of the country concerned.

Contents that usually need checking include:

  • dangerous goods
  • flammable items
  • certain batteries, including some electronics that contain them
  • some liquids
  • chemicals
  • controlled or regulated goods

This is not a complete list. An item that does not appear here is not automatically accepted. Food, medicines, cosmetics and valuables may also carry restrictions on some routes.

If you are unsure, tell us exactly what is inside before booking.

How Your Parcel Is Moved

We coordinate the booking, and our team remains available if you need help with the service or shipment-status information. Depending on the destination, parcel details and available service, the shipment may be moved through a suitable third-party courier or service provider.

Within India, that could be a network such as DTDC, Delhivery or Blue Dart. For overseas parcels, it could be a provider such as DHL, FedEx, UPS or Aramex. These are examples only, and the right one varies from shipment to shipment.

The choice is made parcel by parcel and takes into account:

  • the destination
  • service coverage on that route
  • the contents
  • weight and dimensions
  • urgency
  • pickup availability
  • international requirements

The selected service or provider can be confirmed when the shipment is booked.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you provide parcel courier service from Mumbai?

Yes. Alongside our cargo and logistics services, we arrange parcel courier from Mumbai to destinations across India and to serviceable international destinations. Whether a particular parcel can go comes down to its contents, size, weight and destination.

What types of parcels can I send?

Most everyday personal and business parcels can be considered, including:

  • clothing and personal items
  • gifts
  • books
  • accessories
  • household items
  • business samples

  • replacement items

Final acceptance depends on the actual contents, the destination, the provider's rules and applicable regulations. Items such as batteries, liquids, food or medicines may be restricted, so please tell us exactly what is inside.

What is the difference between a parcel and a document shipment?

A document shipment contains paperwork only. A parcel contains physical items. If an envelope holds a pen drive, a sample or a small gift along with some papers, it is usually treated as a parcel. What is inside decides it, not the packaging. For paperwork only, see our Document Courier page.

Can I send parcels anywhere in India?

Parcels can be sent to serviceable destinations across India. Coverage can vary for smaller towns and remote areas, and larger parcels or certain contents may have fewer service options. Share the destination PIN code along with the parcel details, and we will check what is available.

Can I send parcels internationally from Mumbai?

Yes, to serviceable overseas destinations. We will need:

  • the receiver's full address, postal code and phone number
  • a clear description of the contents
  • the weight and dimensions
  • the declared value, where required

Customs rules, documentation, and any duties or taxes vary by country and shipment, so we check the service before booking.

How are parcel courier charges calculated?

The main factors are:

  • pickup location and destination
  • actual weight
  • dimensions, as some services consider the space a parcel occupies
  • number of pieces
  • contents
  • the service chosen
  • any international documentation required

Share the details and we will send you a quote.

Can I track my parcel courier?

Where the shipment is available in Shiv Guru Cargo's tracking system, you can check it on our Track Shipment page.
