For Larger Shipments and Longer Distances
Sea cargo is usually considered when a shipment is sizeable, heavy or bulky, and the timeline allows for movement by sea. It is commonly used for commercial consignments, household goods on a relocation, machinery and heavy equipment, and vehicles. It covers both domestic movement and international import and export.
Every sea shipment is planned around its details: what the cargo is, how much of it there is, whether it needs a full container or can share one, where it starts and where it is going. The quote is worked out from those same details, so it reflects the actual shipment rather than a standard rate.
Sea cargo generally starts from 200 kg. For smaller or more urgent domestic shipments, Train Cargo or Air Cargo may be more suitable, and within India, road Transportation is another option to consider.
Generally From 200 kg
Sea cargo generally starts from 200 kg.
There is no fixed overall maximum. Larger and heavier shipments can be discussed, depending on the cargo type, volume, handling requirements, the route, the container or service arrangement, and carrier acceptance where applicable. Share the weight and approximate dimensions early so we can plan the right arrangement.
Sea Cargo Options
FCL
Full Container LoadYour cargo has a container to itself. FCL can be discussed where the volume of the shipment, or the need to keep it separate, makes dedicated container capacity the right choice.
LCL
Less than Container LoadYour cargo shares container space with other shipments, so you don't need to book an entire container. LCL can be arranged where the shipment and the service arrangement are suitable, and like all our sea cargo, it generally starts from 200 kg.
Commercial Cargo
Business consignments and larger commercial shipments, domestic or international.
Personal & Household Goods
Eligible personal and household goods can be shipped by sea, whether you're relocating or sending belongings ahead.
Machinery & Heavy Equipment
Machinery and heavy equipment can be handled. What is workable depends on the size, weight and handling needs of each piece, so we review the details before confirming.
Vehicle Shipping
Cars, bikes and other vehicles can be shipped by sea. Acceptance depends on the vehicle, the route and the destination, and we confirm the arrangement before booking.
Refrigerated & Perishable Cargo
Refrigerated and perishable cargo can be arranged. Availability depends on the cargo, the route, the service arrangement and whether suitable equipment and carriers are available for that movement.
Choosing the Right Container Arrangement
The choice usually comes down to how much cargo you have and how you want it moved. If the shipment is large enough to justify a container, or you prefer your cargo to travel on its own, FCL is worth discussing. If the shipment doesn't need a full container, LCL lets it share space with other cargo.
Neither option is automatically faster, cheaper or safer. The right choice depends on the volume, the route and the service available at the time. If you're unsure, share the cargo details and we'll suggest what fits.

- the international sea movement
- documentation assistance
- customs clearance through a CHA (Customs House Agent / Customs Broker)
- onward movement to the destination where applicable
Let us know the origin, what the cargo is and where it needs to go in India, and we'll plan the arrangement from there.

India to Overseas
For cargo leaving India by sea, we coordinate the export shipment:
- pickup and packing where required
- documentation assistance
- customs clearance through a CHA
- the sea movement
- the arrangement at the destination where applicable
International destinations are subject to route, shipment and service availability, which we confirm when we check your shipment.
Two Ways to Move Your Cargo
Door-to-Door Sea CargoDepending on the shipment arrangement, door-to-door covers:
- pickup from your address
- coordination at the origin
- the sea movement
- coordination at the destination
- final delivery
Availability depends on the location and service arrangement, especially for international destinations. See Door-to-Door Cargo.
Port-to-Port Sea CargoIf you only need the sea movement between ports, port-to-port is available as an alternative where suitable. You or your own arrangements handle the movement to and from the ports.

Getting Cargo Ready to Sail
Packing and loading support is available where required. Depending on the shipment arrangement, cargo may be handled during pickup, loading, port operations and destination delivery or collection, so suitable packing plays an important role in protecting it. Packing and careful handling reduce the risk of damage, but they can't remove it entirely.
We also coordinate the port side of the shipment, working with the relevant service providers so the cargo moves through the port as planned. Shiv Guru Cargo does not own or operate ports.
Documentation Assistance and CHA Coordination
Sea shipments, especially international ones, need the right paperwork, and the requirements vary with the cargo, the route and the destination. We help you understand what your shipment needs and assist with preparing the shipping documents.
Customs clearance is coordinated through a CHA as part of the shipment arrangement. Customs decisions, duties and taxes are determined by the customs authorities, so we can't guarantee clearance or any particular duty outcome. What we can do is make sure the process is coordinated properly.
Insurance as Part of Shipment Planning
Where required, cargo insurance can be discussed and arranged through the applicable insurer as part of shipment planning. Coverage, terms and claims remain subject to that insurer and the policy issued. Insurance isn't included automatically, so ask about it early and we'll explain what can be arranged for your shipment.
