International courier service from Mumbai

International Courier Mumbai

Sending something abroad from Mumbai usually comes with a few questions. Which service should it go on? What will it cost? What paperwork is needed? Can someone collect it from your home or office?

Tell us what you are sending and where it is going. We check the service options for that destination, share a quote, arrange pickup where it is available and stay reachable until the shipment is delivered. We handle documents, parcels, samples and business shipments, for individuals as well as companies.

Who Sends International Courier from Mumbai

Most international courier from the city is not unusual. It is ordinary paperwork and ordinary parcels that simply have to cross a border. A few typical cases:

  • A student's family sending mark sheets, transcripts or a signed form to a university abroad.
  • Parents sending clothes, books and festival gifts to a son or daughter working overseas.
  • A professional sending a signed agreement or notarised papers to a client in another country.
  • A garment or textile business sending fabric swatches or a sample piece to a buyer before an order is confirmed.
  • A small manufacturer sending a spare part or prototype to an overseas customer.
  • An online seller sending individual orders to buyers outside India.

Each of these needs something different. A transcript in an envelope and a 15 kg carton of personal belongings may go to the same city, but they will rarely go on the same service at the same price.

Choosing a Suitable Courier Service

The most common request we get is "send it by the fastest one" or "send it by the cheapest one". Both are fair questions. Neither can be answered properly without the shipment details.

Depending on the destination, shipment type and service requirement, available options may include services through networks such as DHL, FedEx, UPS, Aramex and DPD, along with Shiv Guru Cargo's self-service options on supported routes. Not every option is available for every destination or every type of shipment. The service used is confirmed for your shipment at the time of booking.

Choosing by brand name alone is a common mistake. A network that suits a light document going to London may be a poor fit for a heavy carton going to a smaller town in Canada. What actually decides the right service:

Choosing an international courier service in Mumbai

Destination country and city.

Coverage and service levels differ from country to country.

Destination postal or ZIP code.

Some addresses fall outside a network's regular delivery area and may attract an extra charge or a longer delivery time.

Document or parcel.

Documents with no commercial value are usually handled more simply than goods.

Weight and dimensions.

Rates move in weight slabs, and large, light boxes are charged by size.

Contents.

Some networks accept certain items on certain routes and decline them on others.

Urgency.

A priority service costs more. It is worth it only when the date really matters.

Documentation.

Commercial shipments need more paperwork, and not every service handles every type equally well.

Budget.

Sometimes a slightly slower service is the sensible choice, and we will say so.

Share the details and we will lay out the realistic options for your shipment. The choice is then yours.

What Can You Send?

Eligible items commonly sent from Mumbai include:

Documents:

certificates, academic records, agreements, applications and business papers

Parcels:

boxed personal or commercial goods

Samples:

fabric, garments, components or product samples sent for approval

Personal belongings:

clothes, books and everyday items

Gifts:

for birthdays, weddings and festivals, packed and declared correctly

Commercial shipments:

goods sent to overseas buyers, branches or suppliers

E-commerce shipments:

individual customer orders, where the route supports it

Books and printed material:

books, catalogues, brochures and other printed matter

Being on this list does not mean an item is accepted. Acceptance depends on the destination country's import rules, the carrier or service, the commodity itself and the applicable transport regulations. If you are unsure about something, ask before you pack it.

International documents and parcels from Mumbai

International Document Courier from Mumbai

Documents are a common type of international shipment from Mumbai. Typical examples are educational documents for admissions, visa-related or application paperwork, signed contracts, company documents, certificates and attested copies.

Some practical points:

  • Use a sturdy envelope or document pack, especially for originals that must not be folded.
  • Check the receiver's full address and phone number carefully. A missing flat number or an old postal code causes more delays than anything else.
  • If the papers are going to a university or an embassy, confirm exactly where they want them sent. Institutions often have a specific mailroom address.
  • Keep copies of everything you send.

We cannot guarantee that a receiving institution will accept your documents. That depends entirely on their requirements. Our job is to get the envelope to the right address on a suitable service. For more on paper shipments, see our document courier service.

International Parcel Service from Mumbai

Parcels need more information than documents, because customs at the destination is checking goods rather than paper. Before booking a parcel, keep these ready:

  • An honest, item-wise list of contents
  • The weight of the packed box, not the empty one
  • Length, width and height of the packed box
  • The value of the contents
  • An invoice, where the goods are commercial or new purchases
  • The receiver's full address with the correct postal or ZIP code

Declare the value truthfully. Under-declaring to save duty can lead to the parcel being held or questioned. Over-declaring can raise the duty the receiver pays.

Our parcel courier page covers parcel handling in more general terms.

Business and Commercial International Shipments

Mumbai businesses use international courier services for samples, documents and small consignments sent abroad. These shipments need a little more preparation than personal ones.

  • Samples. Even free samples usually need a value declared for customs. Mark them clearly and keep the quantity reasonable.
  • Commercial and export parcels. Goods sent for business or export purposes may require a commercial invoice and other shipment-related documents. Where GST, IEC, KYC or any additional documentation is required, the sender will need to provide it. We can guide you on the documents normally required for the shipment.
  • Regular shipments. If you send abroad every week or every month, tell us. It helps to agree on a standard way of sharing shipment details so that each booking moves faster.
  • E-commerce orders. Individual orders to overseas customers need an accurate product description and value on each shipment. See our e-commerce courier page.
  • Business documents. Contracts and company papers can move on document services, usually with simpler paperwork.

Customs decisions are made by the authorities and carriers concerned, not by us. What we can do is help you prepare the shipment so that the information they need is complete. For other business courier needs, visit our business courier page.

How International Courier Booking Works

  1. Share shipment details: pickup location, destination, contents, weight and dimensions.
  2. We check the service options available for that destination and shipment.
  3. You receive a quote, and confirm the service you want.
  4. Pickup is arranged from your address, where available.
  5. Packing and documents are checked before the shipment goes ahead.
  6. The shipment is dispatched on the selected service.
  7. You track it using the reference shared with you.
  8. Delivery is completed, subject to customs and destination conditions.

International Courier Charges from Mumbai

There is no single rate card for international courier, and anyone quoting a flat price without asking questions is guessing. The charge depends on:

  • Destination country, city and postal or ZIP code
  • Actual weight and package dimensions
  • Volumetric and chargeable weight
  • The contents
  • The service selected and how urgent the shipment is
  • Pickup requirements
  • Destination duties, taxes or other charges, where applicable

Actual weight vs volumetric weight

Actual weight is what the packed box weighs on a scale. Volumetric weight reflects how much space the box takes up in the aircraft or vehicle. Many international express services calculate it as length × width × height in centimetres, divided by 5,000, though the divisor can differ by service.

For example, a box measuring 50 × 40 × 40 cm gives 80,000 ÷ 5,000 = 16 kg volumetric weight. If the same box actually weighs 8 kg, you are charged on 16 kg. The higher of the two figures is the chargeable weight, and it is usually rounded up to the next weight slab.

This is why a large carton of light clothes can cost more than people expect. Packing in a box that fits the contents, without much empty space, keeps the charge down.

Duties and taxes in the destination country are separate from the courier charge. Depending on the country and the shipment, they may be payable by the receiver. Ask us how this works for your destination.

For an accurate quote, share the pickup pincode, destination country, city and postal code, contents, packed weight, box dimensions and number of boxes. Then tell us whether it is urgent. You can send these through our quote page.

Packing an international courier shipment

Packing for International Courier

International shipments are handled several times, at origin, at transit hubs and at destination. Pack for that, not for a single trip across town.

  • Use a strong, preferably double-wall, outer carton for anything heavier than a few kilos. Old, soft boxes split.
  • Cushion the contents with bubble wrap, foam or crumpled paper, and keep items away from the sides of the box.
  • Fill empty spaces. Contents that move inside the box are the main cause of damage.
  • Wrap fragile items individually, if they are accepted on your service, and tell us they are fragile.
  • Seal every seam with good packing tape. Avoid string, and avoid wrapping the box in paper.
  • Remove or cover old labels and barcodes. Put the address label and any documents where they can be seen.
  • Measure the box after packing. The packed dimensions are what count for the charge.

Good packing reduces the risk of damage. It cannot remove that risk completely. If you need help, tell us when you book.

Customs and Documentation

Every international shipment passes through customs at the destination, and often through export checks before it leaves India. The paperwork is not the same for every shipment. Depending on the type of shipment and the destination, you may be asked for:

  • KYC, meaning identity details for the sender
  • An invoice, or a value declaration for personal items
  • A list or description of the contents and quantities
  • A commercial invoice for goods being sold
  • Destination-specific documents for certain countries or items

The most important thing is an accurate description. "Gift items" or "personal goods" is too vague. "3 cotton shirts, 2 books, 1 steel tiffin" tells customs exactly what is in the box. Vague descriptions are a common reason for shipments being held for questions.

We can explain what is normally needed for your shipment and service. For anything that needs formal legal or tax advice, please speak to a qualified professional.

Restricted and Prohibited Items

There is no single list that applies to every country. Whether an item can be sent depends on the commodity, the destination country, the carrier or service, international transport regulations and customs rules at both ends.

Items that commonly need checking include medicines, food, liquids, powders, cosmetics and perfumes, batteries and electronics, and anything of high value. Some of these are accepted on certain routes with conditions. Others are not accepted at all.

If you have any doubt about an item, ask us before booking. It is far easier to sort out before pickup than after a shipment has been stopped. Prohibited goods cannot be accepted.

How Long Does International Delivery Take?

It depends, and that is the honest answer. Transit time is affected by the destination country and postal code, the service selected, when the shipment is picked up and dispatched, customs processing at destination, whether it is a document or a parcel, whether the paperwork is complete, and operational conditions such as weather, holidays and peak seasons.

A priority service to a major city is usually quicker than an economy service to a remote area. Beyond that, we would rather give you an estimate for your actual shipment than quote a number that does not apply to it. Ask us for an estimate when you request your quote.

Tracking Your International Courier

Once the shipment is booked, you receive a reference to follow it. Where the shipment is recorded in Shiv Guru Cargo's tracking system, you can check its latest status and history on our Track Shipment page. For shipments on other networks, tracking is available through the reference for that service.

International status messages can be confusing. "Held at customs" or "clearance event" does not always mean there is a problem. If an update is unclear, call or WhatsApp us on +91 98920 00469 and we will help you understand it.

Popular International Destinations from Mumbai

Shipments from Mumbai go to many countries. Common international destinations include:

USA.

UK.

Documents, personal parcels and business samples are common. Include the full postcode with the address.

Canada.

Distances inside the country are large, so the destination city and postal code noticeably affect service options.

UAE.

This is a frequent route for business documents, samples and personal shipments, especially to Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Australia.

Import checks on food and some natural products can be strict, so check the contents before booking.

Singapore.

Europe.

Destinations across Europe are generally served, with options varying by country and city.

Kuwait.

Documents, personal parcels and business shipments can be checked for Kuwait. Share the destination area, postal details where available, and shipment contents so suitable service options can be checked.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I send an international courier from Mumbai?

Share the pickup location, destination country, city and postal code, contents, packed weight and box size with us by phone, WhatsApp or the quote form. We check the available services, send a quote and arrange pickup once you confirm. Packing and documents are checked before dispatch.

Do you provide pickup in Mumbai?

Yes, pickup can be arranged across Mumbai and many nearby areas, subject to confirmation for your address. Share your pincode when you request a quote and we will confirm pickup for that address.

Can I send documents internationally?

Yes. Certificates, academic records, contracts and other eligible paperwork can be sent to serviceable destinations. Use a sturdy envelope, double-check the receiver's address and keep copies of everything you send.

Can I send a courier from Mumbai to the USA, UK, Canada or UAE?

Yes, documents and eligible parcels can be sent to these countries, subject to the contents, the destination's import rules and the service available for the exact address. Share the city and postal code and we will check the options.

How are international courier charges calculated?

Charges depend mainly on the destination, the chargeable weight and the service selected. The contents, pickup requirements and remote-area surcharges can also apply. Duties and taxes at the destination, where applicable, are separate from the courier charge.

What is volumetric weight?

It is a weight worked out from the size of the box rather than what it weighs. Many services use length × width × height in centimetres ÷ 5,000. You are charged on whichever is higher, actual or volumetric weight, so a large, light box can cost more than its scale weight suggests.

Are DHL, FedEx, UPS, Aramex or DPD options available?

Depending on the destination and shipment, options may include services through these networks, along with Shiv Guru Cargo's self-service options on supported routes. Not every network is available for every route or commodity. The service used is confirmed for your shipment at booking.

Which international courier service should I choose?

Choose the one that fits your shipment, not the brand name you have heard most. A light document, a heavy parcel and a commercial sample may each be best suited to a different service. Tell us your deadline and budget and we will suggest suitable options.

What documents are required?

It depends on the shipment. Personal shipments usually need sender identity details (KYC), a contents list and a declared value. Commercial goods normally need a commercial invoice and business details. Some destinations or items need additional documents, and we will tell you what applies to yours.

How long does international delivery take?

It depends on the destination, the postal code, the service, customs processing and when the shipment is dispatched. We do not quote a fixed timeline that may not apply to your shipment. Ask for an estimate with your quote.

What items cannot be sent internationally?

It differs by country and service. Items such as medicines, food, liquids, perfumes, batteries and high-value goods often need checking, and some are not accepted. Prohibited goods cannot be sent. Ask us before packing anything you are unsure about.

Can I send more than one box in a single shipment?

Yes, several boxes can usually go together as one shipment. Share the number of boxes with the weight and dimensions of each, because the charge depends on every box, not just the total. We will check which service suits the shipment as a whole.
